Afonso Alves believes he can fire Middlesbrough to European qualification next season.
The Brazilian ended the 2007/08 campaign with six goals in his final six matches, including a brace against champions Manchester United and a hat-trick against Manchester City.
But the club record signing says that was just the start and he aims to show the Boro faithful his best after a full summer of pre-season training.

"I know I will score goals," he told the club's official website.
"I can't say how many, but I am sure the goals are going to happen. That is what I do best.
"I was pleased with the number of goals I scored at the end of the season. When I first moved to Boro I hadn't played for many weeks so it took me time to settle and I had to build my fitness."
He added: "The club has been in the UEFA Cup and done great things already and last season I think that you could see that we could be good enough to qualify for Europe if we had more consistency."
