An England team full of Barclays Premier League talent put in an impressive performance and were well worth their 2-1 victory in Germany.

Matthew Upson scored his first goal for England to give Fabio Capello's under-strength side the lead. The West Ham United defender struck after 24 minutes when he turned home an inswinging corner from Stewart Downing.

In a night of firsts, Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor made his long awaited debut for the Three Lions.

Darren Bent should have made it 2-0 when he took advantage of some hesitancy by the Germans, slipped the ball wide of Tim Wiese but then screwed his shot wide. It proved costly as a mix up between captain John Terry and Scott Carson led to Patrick Helmes equalising moments later.

With just seven minutes remaining, Terry made up for his mistake by scoring England's winner.

Craig Bellamy scored the only goal as Wales won in Denmark. The West Ham midfielder cruised past Jorgensen 40 yards out and motored on before drilling a low shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough's Tuncay Sanli netted a hat-trick as Turkey beat Austria 4-2.

Arsenal's Robin van Persie scored a brace for Holland. The forward found the back of the net twice as his team beat Sweden 3-1. Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt added the third in injury time.

Elsewhere, Bolton Wanderers striker Heidar Helguson scored the only goal of the friendly encounter as Iceland beat Malta 1-0, and Fulham's Zoltan Gera scored Hungary's second as they won 2-0 in Northern Ireland.

Fernando Torres of Liverpool netted for Spain in their 3-0 friendly win over Chile at El Madrigal while Manchester City midfielder Elano was on target as Brazil thumped Portugal 6-2.
