Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce believes goalkeeper Chris Kirkland is ready for an England recall.
Kirkland, 27, is aiming to maintain his record of not missing a match this season when Wigan face Everton on Monday. He has stayed consistently fit after being hampered by a series of injuries throughout his career, which has seen him stuck on just one England cap.
In the process he has found himself behind the likes of David James, Scott Carson, Joe Hart and Paul Robinson.

James was employed by England manager Fabio Capello in the first half of the victory against Germany in midweek then Carson came on for the last 45 minutes.
While Bruce admits Kirkland still has an issue with his back if he has to travel long distances, the situation is improving.
"We are trying to manage it as best we can, " said the Wigan manager. "The more he plays, the more comfortable he is with himself and the new training regime. Thankfully he has not missed a game all season and I am sure he will have to come into the England reckoning at some point. He is certainly the best goalkeeper I have worked with in my time as a manager."
